Punjab Kings Face Setback as Captain Shikhar Dhawan Sidelined for 7-10 Days – Reports

Punjab Kings’ captain, Shikhar Dhawan, got hurt in his shoulder and might not play for about seven to ten days. Sanjay Bangar, who’s in charge of cricket development for the team, said this after the match against Rajasthan Royals. Dhawan missed that game, and Sam Curran took over as captain. Bangar said, “He’s got a shoulder injury, so he might not play for a few days. Having a skilled opener like Shikhar, who’s used to playing on such pitches, is really important for the team.”

“We’ll have to wait and see how he reacts to the treatment. Right now, it looks like he might be out for seven to ten days,” Bangar added. Before the season started, Jitesh Sharma represented the team at the captains’ meeting because Dhawan was sick. Curran was always supposed to lead the team if Dhawan couldn’t. Bangar clarified, “No, Jitesh wasn’t the vice-captain. He went to the meeting because a player had to attend.”

Curran Steps Up as Dhawan’s Stand-in; Struggles Persist for Punjab Kings’ Top Order

   Sam Curran

“Our plan was always for Sam Curran to take over if needed.” Dhawan and Jonny Bairstow haven’t been starting well, which affects the team’s performance. Atharva Taide replaced Dhawan in the last match but didn’t do much. Bangar said, “It’s worrying that our top order isn’t scoring enough runs. They’re trying hard, but it’s not working out. The pitch at Mullanpur makes it tough for batsmen in the first six overs, so that’s a challenge.”

In summary, Shikhar Dhawan’s injury is a setback for Punjab Kings, and his absence might affect the team’s performance for the next few games. Sam Curran will continue to lead the team in Dhawan’s absence. The team’s top order batsmen need to step up their game to improve their performance in the tournament.
