Team India skipper Virat Kohli has carved a niche for himself as the chase master. He makes things look like a cakewalk when he comes to out to bat in the second half of a game. The talismanic run-scorer recently revealed the secret recipe behind mastering the art of chasing of perfectly.

Since his international debut, Kohli has played quite a few knocks during chasing a total which will forever in cricket lover’s mind. The unbeaten 82-run knock against Australia in the T20 World Cup 2016 and then chasing 350+ totals against the Aussies in 2013 are some of the highlights of his career.

Moreover, Virat Kohli averages over 96 while chasing a total successfully. The average pumps up to over 105 in the shortest formats as Kohli makes things look like that he is born to do this. Another aspect of Kohli’s batting while chasing is that he is high of energy. During a live chat with Bangladesh batsman Tamim Iqbal, Kohli revealed where he gets this motivation.

“Process is simple. Sometimes the likes of Mushy (Mushfiqur Rahim) will help too by saying something from behind the stumps and then I get extra motivation,” Kohli said.

Adding further, the cricketer from Delhi pointed out that confidence is key while chasing a total. Virat Kohli recalled his younger days when he used to feel that he would’ve won India the games which the team lost at that time. Indian cricket fans will hope for more such delightful knocks in the future and help the Men in Blues win a lot of games.

“You have to have the confidence that you can do it. I always tell the youngsters that they need to have the confidence that they can do it.  When I was young, I used to watch the matches and I used to be convinced that the matches India did not win, I would have been able to win those matches. I went to bed with that kind of feeling.

“So, when I am in such a situation [chasing], there is that joy that comes out. That pure intent, I mean. Chasing has a very clear scenario where you know how many runs you need to get and what you need to do to attain that. Even when you need 370 or 380, I feel like it’s gettable,” Kohli signed off.
