Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) player Virat Kohli and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) mentor Gautam Gambhir engaged in an enthusiastic conversation during a practice session preceding the IPL 2024 match between the two teams at Edan Gardens.
With a shared history of playing for Delhi and India, including winning the 2011 World Cup together, Kohli and Gambhir are familiar with each other. Despite occasional on-field disagreements in the past, their interaction on Saturday appeared casual and friendly.

The footage also displays several KKR batsmen practising diligently in the nets before a crucial match against RCB. Following a devastating loss to the Rajasthan Royals in their last game, where Jos Buttler’s century led to their defeat, the home team aims to recover and perform strongly.
Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli had a touching moment during their last meeting when KKR played against RCB
Last year, Virat Kohli’s altercation with Naveen-ul-Haq led to a heated exchange with Gautam Gambhir, who was then mentoring the Lucknow Super Giants. With Gambhir now serving as KKR’s mentor, there were anticipations of tension when he returned to Chinnaswamy Stadium.
However, their friendly interaction during a strategic timeout surprised many, indicating that they have moved past the incident in Lucknow. Kohli’s impressive unbeaten knock of 83 runs off 59 balls propelled RCB to a challenging total of 182/6.
Despite their efforts, Sunil Narine’s quick 47 and Phil Salt’s brisk 30 gave KKR a strong start, setting the stage for Venkatesh Iyer’s 50 and Shreyas Iyer’s unbeaten 39 to comfortably guide KKR to victory in the 17th over.
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will go head-to-head with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on April 21st at the Eden Gardens stadium.
