Kohli’s total stands at 542 runs from 11 matches, averaging 67.75, with one century and four half-centuries. After the match, Dinesh Karthik presented the orange cap to Virat Kohli before engaging with the broadcast team.

With a four-wicket victory against GT, RCB climbed to the seventh spot in the points table

Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s faint playoff aspirations stayed alive as they secured a comfortable four-wicket victory against Gujarat Titans (GT) in IPL 2024.

GT, batting first after losing the toss, were dismissed for 147 runs in 19.3 overs. Shahrukh Khan (37), Rahul Tewatia (35), and David Miller (30) contributed with useful innings, while the remainder of the lineup struggled. RCB began strongly, courtesy of a rapid fifty from skipper Faf du Plessis (64). Nonetheless, they stumbled for a brief period, leading to a decline from 92/0 to 117/6.

Dinesh Karthik (21*) and Swapnil Singh (15*) then displayed sensible batting, guiding them to victory in the 14th over. Reflecting on the win during the post-match presentation, RCB captain Faf du Plessis remarked:

“We have been really good for the last two matches. I think the wicket was a little bit different from the last two games. I think the bowlers were really good in executing the plans. Even with a dropped catch, I am really pleased with the intensity in the field.”

He continued: “There have been some really high scores in this tournament. We were trying to bat with the same intent. It was nerve wrecking when I was up there and was hearing, “oh there goes another wicket.. and another wicket”. So, some lessons to be learned there.”

RCB will head north to Dharamshala to face PBKS in their upcoming IPL 2024 match on Thursday, May 9.
