Support is coming in for veteran wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik, who may have just played his final game in the Indian Premier League after Royal Challengers Bengaluru lost to Rajasthan Royals on Wednesday. In a video posted by RCB’s official account on X, the famous Virat Kohli reminisced about how DK supported him during his difficult 2022 IPL season.
On Wednesday, May 22, Dinesh Karthik played his final Indian Premier League game at the Narendra Modi Stadium against the Rajasthan Royals (RR). The team captained by Faf du Plessis lost the Ahmedabad knockout match by four wickets. In the IPL 2024, the RCB squad was unable to proceed to “Qualifier 2”.
In his final IPL game, the seasoned wicketkeeper-batter scored 11 runs off 13 deliveries, including one boundary.
Karthik finished with a respectable average of 36.22 and an exceptional strike rate of 187.35, scoring 326 runs in 13 innings overall. With a career-best of 83 runs, the right-handed batter shattered two half-centuries.

Virat Kohli, the former captain of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, thanked Dinesh Karthik’s assistance during trying times. The 35-year-old called Karthik a “wise man” and claimed that his vast knowledge extends beyond cricket. According to Kohli, he treasures his chats with the batter-wicketkeeper.
Kohli revealed,” I’ve had some nice and interesting conversations with him and he’s a very wise man and has great knowledge about a lot of things, not just cricket. And I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my conversations with him. Even in the phase in 2022 when I didn’t have a great IPL season, I was struggling for confidence. He sat me down a couple of times and, you know, just gave me a very honest explanation of how he is seeing things and maybe I’m not able to see them myself”.
“So I just like his honesty, his courage to go and speak to anyone about things that he dearly feels about. I think is the most special thing for me when it comes to Dinesh. And that’s something that I’ve always cherished about him. And that’s why we get along well,” he added.
