Eoin Morgan recently talked about Alex Hales chances of returning to the England side. Hales was dropped from the England side following a drug ban just before the World Cup. Morgan stated that Hales returning to international cricket will still take a little “more time” during an online event to mark 15 year anniversary of a cricket charity ‘Chance to Shine’.
A couple of days back England fast bowler Chris Woakes also talked about Hales returning to international cricket. Woakes talking about Hales commented that he deserves a “second chance” along with praising the swashbuckling batsman.

Rumours were floating around that England might bring back Hales for the T20 World cup in Australia. Eoin Morgan, on the other hand, does not see Alex Hales making a return in the near future. He believes Hales will have to regain the trust back of his fellow England teammates.
“On the cusp of a world cup, the huge breakdown of trust between him and the players were extremely dramatic. I’ve certainly spoken to Alex and see an avenue for him coming back. But it’s been only 13 months since the incident”.
“Given that it could have derailed our world cup campaign, I think it will take more time, yes. It’s not about the performance with Alex, he’s a fantastic player and it’s never been discussed as to whether he’s good enough to be in the squad. It’s about on and off the field and values we adhere to”, stated Morgan.
The world cup winning captain, Eoin Morgan also talked about the possibility of T20 world Cup happening this year. The event was originally scheduled to be played between October 18 – November 15 in Australia. Morgan commented that it is highly unlikely the mega event will take place due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I’d be surprised if it goes ahead. My reasons for that would be if you look at how Australia has handled the pandemic, they’ve shut down the borders pretty early, had a limited number of cases and deaths in comparison to the rest of the world”, said Morgan.
