WI vs ENG: [WATCH] Brandon King Hits A Massive 101-Meter Six Out During 2024 T20 World Cup Super Eight Match

West Indies opener Brandon King hit a colossal 101-meter six that cleared the stadium during the 2024 T20 World Cup match against England in St. Lucia on June 19. After being asked to bat first, the West Indies had a cautious start, reaching 13/0 in two overs.

But then King unleashed his power against left-handed pitcher Reece Topley. On the third ball of the third over, the right-hander delivered a full on the leg-stump on the deep mid-wicket stand for the first six of the innings without scoring any effort.

The ball came off the ground 101 metres, giving West Indies a huge lead. After hitting big sixes, King hit consecutive boundaries off Jofra Archer in the next over. However, he had to retire hurt in the fifth over due to side strain.

Despite scoring 13 off 23 blasts, King did not return to bat for the rest of the West Indian innings. The 29-year-old has been below average throughout the tournament, amassing 86 runs at an average of 21.50 and a strike rate of 126.47 in five innings.

Brandon King’s explosive start helps West Indies reach the 180-match series against England

In the opening Twenty20 World Cup Super Eights tournament in 2024, West Indies raced to 58/0 at the end of the powerplay, with a quick cameo from Brandon King and then skipper Rowman Powell’s stunning 17-ball 36,000.

The co-hosts posted a mandatory 137/2 in 15 overs. But the English bowlers came back strongly, restricting West Indies to 180/4 in 20 overs. The spin trio of Adil Rashid, Moeen Ali and Liam Livingstone all took three of the four wickets together.

Despite six of the seven West Indian batsmen crossing the 20-run mark, their highest scores with Powell and Nicholas Pooran stood at just 36, as England took wickets regularly.

In reply, England got off to a strong start, reaching 64/0 in seven overs with Jos Buttler and Phil Salt looking superb. However, off-spinner Roston Chase made a significant breakthrough by dismissing Butler to level with England at 67/1 in the eighth over.

Earlier, a few months ago, the two teams faced each other in a five-match Twenty20 series in the West Indies, where the visitors won narrowly 3-2.
