To which PM Modi also said: “When I talked to your mother, I also had a chat with the doctors and asked them whether he was required to be taken abroad for further treatment. Your mother was really confident of your recovery. During the conversation, it seemed like she was giving me the assurance. That time I knew that a person who is blessed with such a mother will definitely achieve something big. The thing which I liked the most was you accepted that it was your mistake, not anyone else’s. You could have put the blame on anything else. You are an inspiration for everyone and you truly showed us that you won the war.”

In the T20 World Cup final against South Africa, Pant’s contribution was crucial. India scored a total of 176 runs with the likes of Virat Kohli’s 76 with crucial assist from Axar Patel and Shivam Dube. Facing a daunting chase, South Africa seemed determined to venture India’s score, led by Heinrich Klaasen and Quinton de Kock. However, pivotal dismissals by Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah in the death overs tilted the course of the match in India’s favour.
