Indian vice-captain Hardik Pandya described the victory of Team India in Mumbai in this way after the triumphant 2024 T20 World Cup. He said that for him, the highest pleasure was watching the joy and happiness in people’s hearts.

Men In Blue made history on June 29th when it became just the third team ever to win two T20 World Cup titles, an incredible accomplishment in the sport of cricket. When they defeated South Africa in the Championship Final of the 2024 edition, they won their first ICC title since 2013.

The 30-year-old described the time in his youth when he rejoiced in India’s 2007 World Cup triumph by taking to the streets and said that it was particularly surreal to think he was on the bus with the team.

“I must be on the road (in 2007) because in 2011, I was on the road, celebrating the same team when they came. For me, it’s more surreal that after 13 years the next trophy that we’ve got, which I celebrated, I am part of the team. It’s Bombay for me eventualy, where my journey started and this will be more special, getting the cup back home and it’s so many people’s heart full of joy and happiness. I don’t think there is any more bigger pleasure or blessing than this,” said Pandya in the video.

Hardik Pandya said to the fans that he was overwhelmed with joy and that the Mumbai fans appreciated him during their festivities.

In the IPL 2024, the Indian crowd used to give him back and especially during the match in Mumbai, he was being booed for being a replacement for Rohit Sharma for the MI captaincy. However, when he was applauded during the felicitation of Team India, spectators shouted the cricketer’s name.

“That’s what we work hard for. We work hard to be in this kind of situation, and this kind of atmosphere that we can create and in this kind of happiness that we can provide. I can’t be more happy than finishing out all the formalities and all the celebrations in Mumbai. Mumbai did not disappoint. Mumbai was the best. Amchi Mumbai. Jai Hind.” Hardik Pandya added this to a video posted by BCCI.

The victory for Team India was primarily attributed to all-rounder Hardik Pandya. Throughout the competition, the vice-captain of India was perfect at both bowling and batting. He picked up 11 wickets and scored 144 runs, which was a significant contribution.
