The new domestic league season is on its way, which means it is time to make some modifications; one of them concerns the Punjab cricket squad, champions of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. With Avishkar Salvi quitting the North Zone team, there has always been much buzz regarding who will take over as the coach of Punjab.
The talk is that Wasim Jaffer who is Ranji Trophy’s highest scorer ever, would be taking over his former Mumbai teammate. Wasim Jaffer, aged 46, is in discussions with Punjab Cricket Association (PCA). According to an official, they will come out with a decision within some days.
Wasim Jaffer was rumoured to be in the running for the coaching role at Punjab Kings in the IPL
There were speculations on this matter after a Cricbuzz article mentioned that Punjab Kings were looking for an Indian coach in place of Trevor Bayliss. Therefore, many thought he might be the one to take charge of Punjab state’s coaching stuff. The Indian women’s cricket team has also acquired Avishkar Salvi who has taken over as their bowling coach.
When it comes to the PCA Jaffer still talks, while ACA has hired Tinu Yohannan as their coach. Now he will train the Andhra cricket team for the new season. Former Indian pacer, Yohannan 45, previously coached his home state Kerala for five years and worked with Delhi Capitals on player scouting then shifted towards Andhra taking over from Nirmal Kumar, a local coach.

It may be possible that Kulkarni makes way for Lakshmipathy Balaji who was the bowling coach of Tamil Nadu last season. The Odisha side has now acquired new coaching talent in the person of Surendra Bhave a former national selector and a player for extradit to Maharashtra.
Dinesh Mongia has been replaced by this individual. Tripura, an East Zone team, is currently seeking out a professional trainer. Rahul Tripathi, who played for Goa previously, is back in Maharashtra, his native state. For the next season, the team from Maharashtra has also roped in Rajneesh Gurbani from Vidarbha, another professional player.
VCA earlier issued him a no objection certificate or NOC’, after Vidarbha’s Ranji Trophy win in 2018, when he was instrumental for them. This season, Ruturaj Gaikwad will lead all three formats as captain according to the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA).
