India To Have A Day-Night Practice Match To Prepare For The Adelaide Test Against Australia

During the forthcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy matches, India are scheduled to have a two-day warm-up match with the Prime Minister’s XI at Manuka Oval in Canberra on November 30 and December 1. This contest has been planned to aid India in getting ready for the Day-Night Test against Australia to be held from December 6 at Adelaide Oval.

India has so far played three third-generation pink-ball Tests against Bangladesh (2019), England (2021), and Sri Lanka (2022), all of which they won. However, they have never played an overseas Day-Night Test before, making the upcoming Adelaide Test their first one on foreign soil.

India will also encounter the Prime Minister’s XI for the fourth time and the first in 20 years. The PM XI was captaincy of Steve Waugh, who had current national coach Andrew McDonald as one of its members, while Rahul Dravid was leading an Indian side at that time.

“We’re delighted to confirm India’s involvement in this year’s Prime Minister’s XI match that emphasises the significance of the fixture on the cricketing calendar,” Nick Hockley, the Cricket Australia CEO, was quoted as saying.

“The upcoming Border Gavaskar Trophy Series will captivate the cricketing world. Today’s confirmation of the Prime Minister’s XI match is a terrific result for cricket fans, particularly in the ACT and surrounding regions, and adds to an incredible summer of cricket.”

According to George Bailey, who is the Chairperson of Selectors installed by C.A., “A tremendous honour lies in representing PM’s XI in any player because its heirline is rich enough with over eight decades”. Apart from this year’s match giving such players a chance to prove their skills against possibly number one team globally.

Australia is supposed to play a Test match against India on November 22 at the Perth Stadium becoming its first test played there while Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney will respectively be hosting its third, fourth and fifth Tests. India has so far earned consecutive victories in test matches series held down under.
