[WATCH]- Rishabh Pant Bowls During The Opening Game Of The Delhi Premier League 2024

Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant bowled in the inaugural season of the Delhi Premier League on Saturday, August 17. The opening game saw Purani Dilli 6 take on the South Delhi Superstarz at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

The moment that grabbed attention occurred during the last over of South Delhi’s innings. With Ayush Badoni’s side needing only one run to win, it was Pant who chose to bowl. He sent down a single delivery A full toss which Digvesh Rathi edged for a single and South Delhi Superstarz were able to start their campaign with flying colors.

The opening pair of Priyansh Arya and Sarthak Ray made 87 runs in just 41 balls for the first wicket while chasing 198. Ray was out for 41. Priyansh on his part scored 57 runs from 30 balls with three fours and four sixes.

Captain Ayush Badoni came onto bat at No. 3 with a remarkable innings of 57 runs off 29 balls which included one four and six maximums that brought the Superstarz near victory line. However, South Delhi finally completed the chase by winning the match by three wickets with only five balls remaining in hand even after they lost some quick wickets at the later stage of the game.

Rishabh Pant made 35 runs for Purani Dilli 6

Upon being asked to take the first strike, Manjeet (13), the opening batsman for Purani Dilli 6, fell to the third ball of the over. However, his partner Arpit Rana turned it on in style making an impressive score of 59 runs from 41 balls with eight 4’s and two 6’s to add to his tally.

Rishabh Pant, who is the captain for this team, batted at no. 3 but couldn’t find his rhythm there. He managed to get himself 35 runs off 32 deliveries while hitting four 4’s out of them along with one six.

Lalit Yadav and Vansh Bedi were remarkable towards the end; they put together 79 runs without losing a wicket in just 34 balls. For Lalit, it was an innings of 34 not out off 21 balls while Vansh scored 47 off 19 with four boundaries and four sixes. At last, Purani Dilli 6 finished at 197-3 in the allotted 20 overs.

In response Ayush Badoni led the South delhi team right from the start. Following this, he made sure that they began their tournament on winning note.
