With his three wickets, Saqib Mahmood turned the match in favour of Oval Invincibles as they defeated Southern Brave by 17 runs in The Hundred Men’s final at Lord’s in London on Sunday, August 18. Mahmood’s impressive performance includes his season-best figures of 3/17. He also claimed Kieron Pollard as a prized wicket for a four-ball duck. The other two batsmen were well set Leus de Plooy and Laurie Evans.
Mahmood cleaned up Du Plooy off the 72nd delivery before removing the danger man Pollard via LBW. The pacer dealt another blow to the Brave by dismissing Evans who played the ball straight to Dawid Malan at cover. These three timely wickets left Brave in a spot of bother at 100/6 after 78 deliveries while chasing 148.
