The very last time Shubman Gill was on the field was when India toured Sri Lanka. This series comprised of three T20I matches between these two Asian sides, after which they faced off again in three ODIs.

He was vice-captain for both formats. In two T20Is, he scored 73 runs. His absence in the second match due to a neck sprain should be noted here. In the next ODI series, he didn’t have much influence with the bat having only bagged 57 runs in three innings us.

To boost his confidence before the upcoming two-match home Test series against Bangladesh, Shubman Gill needs some runs under his belt. The opening match of the series will be held at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai starting September 19.

The second and final Test match will occur at Green Park, Kanpur on September 27th. After these red-ball contests, the two Asian sides will name each other in a three-match T20I series. Following this, Men in Blue will play 3 tests at home against New Zealand beginning October16 and then they’re set to tour Australia for Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

India and Australia have a five-match Test series lined up, with the first matchscheduled for Perth Stadium in Perth on November 22nd. The form Shubman Gill shows with bat would matter a lot for India as they strive to make their way into the third consecutive World Test Championship final.
