Dwayne Bravo, who used to play for the West Indies and was an all-rounder, has announced that he will retire after the 2024 Caribbean Premier League. The 40-year-old took to social media to announce the same. Bravo has been a T20 vagabond since franchise leagues were born. He commenced his career with Mumbai Indians in IPL and later Trinbago Knight Riders.
The all-rounder has an impressive record with the teams he has played for, with over 600 wickets in the shortest format of the game. Bravo posted a video on his official account on Instagram with this caption:
“It’s been a great journey. Today I would like to announce my retirement from @cplt20. This season will be my last one ☝ and I’m looking forward to a playing my final professional tournament in front of my Caribbean ppl! @tkriders – where it all started for me and will end with my team that I help built from scratch!”

In the CPL, Bravo has played for two franchises. While donning the jersey of St. Kitts & Nevis Patriots and Trinbago Knight Riders, he got 128 wickets from 94 innings.
Dwayne Bravo declared his retirement from international cricket in 2021
In 2021, Dwayne Bravo ended his international cricket career after the West Indies couldn’t defend their title in the 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. Even if he had declared that he was retiring from international cricket in 2018, Bravo changed his mind in order to represent the Caribbean region in this sport.
He shares a close association with Chennai Super Kings and announced his retirement from the tournament after the team won its fifth IPL title.
Since that time, Bravo has been serving as a bowling coach of CSK, assisting players like Matheesha Pathirana and Tushar Deshpande. In addition, he still plays for CSK’s sister franchise Texas Super Kings playing in the Major League Cricket.
The 40-year-old was also in the news headlines following his announcement as Afghanistan’s bowling mentor during the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. It is worth noting here that Afghanistan reached the semifinals against South Africa which is their best-ever T20 World Cup performance where they lost by nine wickets.
