[WATCH]- Shakib Al Hasan Secures Bangladesh’s Historic Series Victory Over Pakistan With A Boundary

The Bangladesh team, led by all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, achieved an unprecedented victory over Pakistan with a score of 2-0 in the series. The second test ended when the visitors won by six wickets at Rawalpindi. Abrar Ahmed was hit for a boundary through covers by Shakib, who thus achieved his country’s historic win.

Bangladesh entered the last day requiring another 143 runs to win from 42-0. After a brief partnership that guaranteed them half-century, openers had to face defeat as they fell soon after; however, middle order batsmen Mominul Haque and Najmul Hossain Shanto put forth some effort during their 57 runs partnership before Shanto succumbed for 38 off 82 balls.

Haque however fell for 34 runs while Shakib and Mushfiqur did not want any interruption in their wickets either. This veteran pair made a few calculated moves before they took their team across the border.

Bangladesh achieves their first-ever clean sweep in a Test series against Pakistan

On the other hand, this 2-0 series victory marked the first time that the Tigers achieved a clean sweep against Pakistan in red-ball cricket. The visitors were in a dire position in the first Test of the series in Rawalpindi after Pakistan declared at 448/6 following centuries from Mohammad Rizwan and Saud Shakeel.

Nevertheless, they fought back through aggressive knocks from the top order and an impressive 190-run innings by Mushfiqur Rahim. After taking a lead of 117 runs, they bowled out their opponents for only 146 runs and chased down the target of 30 with ease.

In the second Test match, Pakistan left Bangladesh reeling at 26-6 during their first innings after scoring 274 runs; however Litton Das scored an obstinate hundred which reduced home side’s lead to just 12 runs.

In reply Shan Masood’s men could only manage to score 172 runs in their second innings setting a target of 185 runs for victory that was achieved by Tigers with six wickets left. The victory will give Shanto and his men plenty of confidence heading into the two-Test series against India starting on September 19th, being a 2-0 win overall.
