Sri Lankan leg-spinner Wanindu Hasaranga was the standout bowler for the St Kitts & Nevis Patriots (SKNP) in their Caribbean Premier League (CPL 2024) game against the Antigua & Barbuda Falcons (ABF) on Sunday, September 8. He took an impressive four-wicket haul in the match.
The Falcons needed to chase a target of 154 runs at Warner Park. They started strongly and were 79/1 after seven overs when Hasaranga entered the attack. The skilled spinner impacted just his second delivery, dismissing the well-set Justin Greaves (30 runs from 16 balls) with a sharp googly.
Greaves attempted to defend but was completely outplayed, and the ball hit the stumps after passing through the gap between his bat and pad. You can watch the video here:

“I couldn’t have asked for any better” – SKNP captain Andre Fletcher on the batting prowess of Mikyle Louis and Wanindu Hasaranga
When ABF told SKNP to bat first, they were off to a bad start. Evin Lewis and captain Andre Fletcher fell out early on. Wanindu Hasaranga had an impressive spell as well, contributing 23 crucial runs from 14 balls.
For SKNP, Miklye Louis was the best performer with the bat, scoring 63 runs off 36 balls. In post-match comments, Fletcher indicated how Hasaranga and Louis came back for the side with their batting feats.
He said:
“It was a difficult wicket to start with, but the way Hasaranga and Louis played to put us back on track with the bat, I couldn’t have asked for any better. They had a good powerplay, but I must say that the guys fought hard. (On Louis) We all know that he can bat and I said to him to go out there and feel free and try his best to play his best match-up. Told him not to doubt himself and play as free as possible.”
SKNP have been having a miserable tournament thus far. With only one win over six games so far, they remain bottom of the points table.
