It has been officially announced by ICC that the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 final will be held at Lord’s Cricket Ground from June 11 to 15, 2025, including June 16 as reserve day.
The highly anticipated matchup in this year’s event will feature Australia and India, currently occupying the top two positions of the WTC points table. New Zealand, Bangladesh and England will follow closely behind as they throw in all possible resources in order to catch up with reigning champions Australia (the current holder) and two-time finalist India.
With its prestige and bragging rights up for grabs, the WTC final is sure to be an enthralling encounter pitting together some of the best Test sides globally. As teams prepare for another round of matches, they hope to secure themselves a coveted spot in the finals.
India’s possibilities for the World Test Championship 2025 final
If the two-time World Test Championship finalists India are able to hold onto the top two spots, they will be hoping to demonstrate the adage “third time’s the charm.” Ten more matches will be played in the WTC cycle, with India’s two-match Test series against Bangladesh serving as the first. With 68.52 percentage points, India heads the points table.
If they triumph in each of the ten games, their maximum percentage point total may be 85.08. For the third consecutive year, though, Rohit Sharma’s team only needs to win eight of the ten games left to guarantee a top two spot in the WTC points standings.
