Yuvraj Singh Shares Special Message On Anniversary Of Scoring 6 Sixes In One Over

The date, September 19th 2007, will forever remain in the history books of Indian Cricket due to Yuvraj Singh’s magnificent accomplishment during the inaugural T20 World Cup held that year. Being a left-handed batter, he exhibited astonishing power hitting skills by pounding six consecutive sixes off England seamer Stuart Broad.

In fact, this was an unprecedented achievement in T20 cricket and it came to signify the shortest format of the sport itself. Though it has been 17 years since then, cricket experts and fans are still amazed at Yuvraj’s great performance which led him to share a special message on his social media handles.

“Forever grateful to represent my country and for moments like these,” Yuvraj posted on X (formerly Twitter), sharing a video compilation of the six sixes against England.

Previously, Yuvraj Singh selected an all-time XI. As one of the most decorated cricketers in history, his choice of players was easy to understand. Among Indian batsmen included Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.

He opened with Sachin Tendulkar and Ricky Ponting as the top two batsmen followed by Rohit Sharma at number three and Virat Kohli at number four respectively. Yuvraj’s fifth choice was AB de Villiers followed by Adam Gilchrist who was a specialist wicket-keeper at number six.

For number seven Yuvraj opted for Shane Warne the Australian spin bowling legend, while Muttiah Muralitharan was brought in at No.8. In pace department Glenn McGrath and Wasim Akram filled up No.9 and No.10 roles respectively while Andrew Flintoff a former England all-rounder occupied the bottom spot of No.11

When the question arose about who could be considered a special No.12 player Yuvraj informed us that he picked himself in that position.

On September 19, 2007, Yuvraj Singh hit six straight sixes off Stuart Broad

As Yuvraj Singh faced England bowler Stuart Broad, fueled by Andrew Flintoff and focused on Dimitri Mascarenhas, the narrative deepens each year on September 19.

Being hit for six sixes in an over is an undesirable record for any bowler. Flintoff regretted igniting Yuvraj’s intensity through their heated exchange, while Yuvraj ended up hitting one more six than he had previously conceded to Mascarenhas.
