On Day 2 of the first Test in Chennai, India’s pace phenom Akash Deep decimated Bangladesh’s batting lineup during the pre-lunch session. He took two wickets in a row, both clean bowled, and left the opposition reeling.

As he was deprived of a possible hattrick, Akash Deep’s outstanding spell established India’s supremacy. Prior to this, India had a competitive 376 thanks to the magnificent century (107), 199 runs, and partnership (59) of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja.

India’s middle order was solidified by Ashwin’s outstanding performance, which included twelve boundaries. Jadeja hit seven fours, offering able assistance. Their collaboration enabled India to escape a dangerous situation.

Now, Bangladesh’s batting team must overcome India’s formidable bowling assault. The hosts have momentum now that Akash Deep has scored early, making for an exciting match.

India’s bowler Akash Deep, who claimed back-to-back wickets in Chennai on Friday, rocked Bangladesh’s batting lineup during the pre-lunch session. His two wickets came from clean bowling. He also had an opportunity to complete a hattrick, but he failed to do so.

Zakir Hasan, the opener, and Mominul Haque were among the two backs who Akash Deep sent back in a row. After a full-length delivery travelling at 138.4 km/h, the middle stump was uprooted to claim the opening wicket. Nevertheless, Akash Deep persisted in being aggressive in the next ball on the trot, and an inside edge off Haque’s bat rang behind him.

Bangladesh had begun the day at 339/6, and India had added just 37 runs while losing all four of their remaining wickets. It was Jadeja (86) who fell first. Just 11 runs could be added to Ashwin’s overnight total of 102 before he was bowled out for 113 by Taskin Ahmed.

The three wickets that the Bangladeshi pacer grabbed (3/55) were of Jadeja, Ashwin, and Akash Deep. The best bowler, Hasan Mahmud, took five wickets for 83 runs. At lunchtime, Bangladesh was at 26/3.
