[WATCH]- Virat Kohli, Gautam Gambhir, And Rishabh Pant Depart From Chennai

Virat Kohli, who previously captained the Indian team, head coach Gautam Gambhir, and wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant took a flight to Delhi from Chennai, shortly after the first Test against Bangladesh. Since the Chennai Test lasted only four days with the home team winning by a huge margin of 280 runs over the visitors, the three decided to catch up with their families.

While both Kohli and Gambhir come from New Delhi, Pant also lives in Uttam Nagar of Delhi. After the wedding, Kohli has taken his wife and children to London. His elder brother Vikas Kholi remains in focus in the city of Delhi.

His family was last seen during the 2024 T20 World Cup basketball tournament at a team hotel. On the other hand, Gulshan has a wife and two daughters who live in Rajinder Nagar, Delhi. Pant’s mother also lives in Delhi.

In terms of their performances, both Kohli and Pant’s numbers varied sharply during the first Test of the series. While in both innings he came to the crease, Kohli scored below par on both occasions with scores of 6 and 17.

The 35-year old however, was the victim of an incorrect LBW call as made by on-field official Richard Kettleborough, who could not spot the inside edge. The right-handed batter also chose not to go for the DRS review, which proved costly for the player as he was eventually out.

Kohli will now be aiming to turn the page on the disappointment from the first Test and will keep his focus on the next Test match with New Zealand coming up in the next month. The Batter from Delhi is just 35 short of 27,000 runs in international cricket.

In addition to Kohli, India’s captain Rohit Sharma struggled in the opening Test, posting single-digit scores of 6 and 5 in his two innings. In contrast, Pant scored 39 and 109 in his innings. In his return match after a break due to injury, the left-handed batsman scored a hundred.

Earlier this year, he resumed playing after 15 months as he was in rehabilitation. The 26-year-old missed 15 months of gameplay because of a road accident in which he was injured, just days after his last Test, in December 2022.
