[WATCH] Yashasvi Jaiswal’s Incredible Catch Removes Zakir Hasan; Virat Kohli, Gautam Gambhir Reacts

The second and final Test between India and Bangladesh is currently taking place at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur. Indian captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to bowl first, anticipating that batting would be challenging on the slightly damp surface.

Bangladesh made a promising start, with India waiting until the ninth over to claim their first wicket, taken by Akash Deep, thanks to Yashasvi Jaiswal’s exceptional fielding. In the third ball of the ninth over, Akash delivered a pivotal ball that dismissed Bangladesh’s Zakir Hasan, who was caught off a spectacular effort by Jaiswal. The delivery, pitching just outside off, drew Zakir into a defensive stroke but straightened enough to edge the ball.

Jaiswal demonstrated remarkable reflexes as he dived forward in Gully, catching the ball just inches above the ground. After a brief discussion, the on-field umpires referred the decision to the third umpire, who faced challenges in finding a clear angle to review the catch.

Ultimately, the third umpire found no conclusive evidence that the ball had touched the ground and ruled Zakir out for a duck after a 24-ball struggle. This impressive catch was yet another highlight from the young player in the ongoing series against Bangladesh.

Akash Deep Strikes Again with an LBW Dismissal

Akash struck again in the 13th over, bowling an outstanding delivery to Shadman Islam, resulting in an LBW decision. Akash confidently appealed and immediately requested a review after the on-field umpire’s initial rejection. The ball, angled in from around the wicket, caught Shadman by surprise, hitting him on the pad as he missed the straight delivery. Given the conditions in Kanpur, the height was not a concern, and the angle indicated the ball would have hit the leg stump.

The Indian team erupted in celebration as the on-field decision was overturned, sending Shadman back to the pavilion after scoring 24 runs off 36 balls, which included four boundaries. At that point, Bangladesh found themselves struggling at 29/2 against India in this Test match.

In his remarks at the toss, Rohit Sharma stated, “We are going to bowl first. The pitch seems a bit soft, so we have to make early inroads, and we want our three seamers to make use of it. We didn’t start well with the bat in the first game, but we found a way to score, and the bowlers did the job. I expect no different here (fight from Bangladesh); we will be challenged, but we have the experience to bounce back. Same team.”
