On Day 4 of the first Test against New Zealand, Rishabh Pant made history and became the fastest wicketkeeper in Indian history to achieve a 2500 run Test match. This was achieved by Pant, who took only 62 innings to do so; the earlier record was held by MS Dhoni, having taken 69 innings while Farokh Engineer took 82 innings. This feat shows that Pant is a great batsman, and he is getting more important in the Indian Test squad.

India’s innings stabilized after an early stutter thanks in large part to Pant’s explosive 53 off 56 balls. Along with Sarfaraz Khan, who achieved his first Test century, Pant’s partnership enabled India to sustain their impressive recovery on Day 4. India trailed New Zealand by just 12 runs at 344/3 at lunchtime.

Due to the way he plays as a batsman and also his excellent wicketkeeping skills, Pant is a vital player for the Indian cricket team. Pant sets himself in the list of the most outstanding wicketkeeper/batsmen in current cricket as he continues to break records and produce stunning match-winning knocks.

On the fourth day of the first Test, Sarfaraz Khan and Rishabh Pant forged an unbreakable partnership of over 150 runs for the fourth wicket, displaying incredible daring and endurance. The gloomy weather hindered the New Zealand pacers’ ability to exploit the situation, which gave the Indian pair the upper hand. Sarfaraz and Pant had set the tone before the heavy showers forced an early lunch.

India’s lead against New Zealand was whittled down to just 12 runs with centuries from Sarfaraz and Pant. With a gutsy effort that rekindled dreams of an extraordinary turnaround, the Indian camp broke out in excitement. Together, Sarfaraz and Pant demonstrated India’s tenacity and created the conditions for an exciting Test finish.
