“Taking A Breather” – Riyan Parag Appreciates His Time Off From Playing

Team India‘s all-rounder Riyan Parag was included in the squad for the three-match T20I series against Bangladesh at home earlier this month. Led by Suryakumar Yadav, the team achieved a remarkable 3-0 sweep over the visitors.

Following the series, Parag is taking some time to relax and enjoy his break from cricket. He recently posted several pictures on his Instagram, offering fans a peek into his recent activities.

Parag captioned the post:

Riyan Parag scored 49 runs in two innings and took one wicket in the T20I series against Bangladesh. The 22-year-old was not included in Assam’s squad for the second round of the ongoing Ranji Trophy. It is uncertain whether he will participate in the team’s next match against Delhi, which starts on October 26.

“You’ll want to keep Riyan Parag”- Aakash Chopra regarding RR’s potential retention strategy for the IPL 2025 mega auction

Riyan Parag has been with the Rajasthan Royals (RR) since 2019, making it the only franchise he has played for. With the upcoming IPL mega-auction, former Indian opener Aakash Chopra suggested that RR would likely want to retain Parag.

However, he believes they may have to let him go, as Yashasvi Jaiswal, Jos Buttler, and Sanju Samson should be their top three retentions. According to the new rules, the fourth capped player will earn ₹18 crore, which Chopra thinks is excessive for Parag.

In a video on his YouTube channel, the cricketer-turned-commentator said:

“Their top three retentions should be Jos Buttler, Sanju Samson and Yashasvi Jaiswal. You can decide one, two and three – it really doesn’t make a difference, because whether you leave out Yashasvi, Sanju or Jos Buttler, they will go for 14 to 15 crores.”

“All three are batters, which includes two Indians. Your top three is set. You need to retain these three. After that, you will have slight problems. You will wish a lot to retain Riyan Parag. However, I won’t agree with Riyan Parag for 18 crores.”

Parag was a key player for RR in IPL 2024, finishing as the team’s top run-scorer with 573 runs across 14 innings.
