MS Dhoni, the former captain of India, talked about the memes that have been produced about him on social media and expressed gratitude to his supporters for their unwavering support.
As the player who isn’t often known for being extremely active on any social media platform, Dhoni was questioned recently if he was aware of the “Thala for a reason” memes.
Around December 2023, supporters’ lighthearted repartee highlighting MS Dhoni’s close connection to the number seven ignited the craze.
To add to the excitement, Dhoni was born on the seventh of the month and is well-known for wearing the number seven on his shirt. Memes flooded the internet when this connection went popular, and the trend is still going strong today. Prominent individuals and IPL teams also participated, offering their own perspectives and adding to the surge of “Thala for a reason” posts on social media.

MS Dhoni stated during a RIGI-organized event that he was aware of the meme but was unsure of its origin. The CSK legend said that the meme had swung the tide in his favor thanks to his talented supporters.
Dhoni believes that when someone is being cruel to him, his supporters typically step in to protect him. According to Dhoni, his fans are currently letting him be silent and enjoy his life and cricket.
“I know about it. But I don’t know the reason behind it. Don’t know if it is funny; if it is supposed to pull my leg, it’s a banter; it’s a meme. I think my fans have turned it into something that’s in my favour. I have got brilliant fans. Don’t need to open my mouth or say something. If they feel somebody has been nasty to me, they take care of it. So I am keeping quiet, enjoying my life, and trying to play good cricket. And that’s what it is for me,” said Dhoni.
