In the ongoing three-match Test series, Team India faced a significant setback, losing the second Test to New Zealand in Pune. With this defeat, India has lost the series, as they were already trailing after losing the first Test in Bengaluru. The Indian batting lineup struggled immensely throughout the match.

After being dismissed for a mere 156 runs in the first innings, India was set a challenging target of 359 runs to chase in the second innings. Unfortunately, the batting order faltered once more, managing only 245 runs and falling short by 113 runs, thus conceding the match and the series to New Zealand.

Virat Kohli’s Frustration Boils Over

The Test was particularly disappointing for star batter Virat Kohli. In the first innings, Kohli scored just one run, and he added only 17 runs in the second before getting dismissed. Following his second-innings dismissal, a viral clip captured Kohli’s frustration. On his way back to the dressing room, he was seen striking an ice box with his bat, venting his anger over the disappointing performance.

This moment sparked reactions among fans, some expressing sympathy for his frustration, while others humorously reminded him that the bat should be used against the ball, not the furniture.

India’s Position in the World Test Championship

Despite the series loss to New Zealand, India continues to hold the top spot in the World Test Championship (WTC) standings. With 13 Tests played, the Indian team has secured eight wins, four losses, and one draw, accumulating 98 points. Australia remains a close competitor, sitting in second place with 90 points from 12 Tests.

The third and final Test of the series will be held at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, starting November 1. While India no longer has a chance to win the series, they will aim for a victory to end on a positive note and maintain their lead in the WTC standings.
