Mohammad Rizwan had a solid start but couldn’t build on it in the first ODI of the three-match series between Australia and Pakistan at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on November 4. The wicketkeeper-batter scored 44 runs off 71 balls, including one six and two fours.
His dismissal occurred in the 32nd over. After hitting a sweep shot for a boundary, Rizwan attempted the same shot on the next delivery, but the ball deflected off his bat to his pads and popped up towards square. Josh Inglis quickly caught the ball.

A strong bowling performance allowed Australia to dominate Mohammad Rizwan’s Pakistan in the first ODI. Mitchell Starc set the tone for the hosts by dismissing Abdullah Shafique and Saim Ayub for 12 and 1 runs, respectively.
Adam Zampa followed by removing Babar Azam for 37 off 44 balls. Captain Pat Cummins and Sean Abbott then took out Kamran Ghulam and Agha Salman, leaving the Men in Green struggling.
As of now, the tourists are at 154/7 after 38.3 overs, with Irfan Khan and Naseem Shah batting. Starc has been the standout bowler, taking three wickets.
Pakistan’s most recent Test series victory in Australia dates back to 2002, when they achieved a 2-1 triumph. However, in their last encounter during the 2017-18 tour, they faced a significant defeat, losing the series 4-1. Currently, the Men in Green are engaged in their first ODI series of 2024.
They won their previous two series against New Zealand and Afghanistan with margins of 4-1 and 3-0, respectively. The reigning World Champions, Australia, also defeated West Indies and England by 3-0 and 3-2, respectively.
