Indian Premier League (IPL) is arguably the best franchise-based league in the world. The best cricketers from all parts of the globe rub shoulders in the cash-rich league played over a month and a half. Recently, star Australian cricketer Steve Smith picked the best tournament he has been part of.

Meanwhile, the prevailing lockdown owing to coronavirus pandemic has left the cricketers with plenty of time. They are using the time to engage with the fans and remain in touch with them. On Sunday afternoon, Smith answered a plethora of questions from the fans on Instagram.

IPL is the best tournament: Steve Smith

The questions ranged from his personal to professional life. Out of all, a fan asked Smith about his favourite tournament he has been part of. Without a doubt, Steve Smith picked IPL considering the challenges it produces for a cricketer. Smith, the current skipper of the Rajasthan Royals, said the cash-rich league is the biggest event.

“Tough to beat IPL playing with and against the best players from around the world,” Smith answered.

Meanwhile, Steve Smith recently said that he will like to play in the IPL if the ICC postpones the T20 World Cup. If the apex body defers the global event, the window will open up for BCCI to host the IPL. Smith, who came close to winning the title with Rising Pune Supergiants in 2017, will be keen to guide his side to the elusive title.

I think when you’re playing for your country at a World Cup, that’s the pinnacle for one-day or T20 cricket, so of course I’d prefer to play in that. But if that doesn’t happen and the IPL’s there, and they postpone it, then so be it. IPL’s also a terrific tournament as a domestic tournament,” Smith had said earlier.
