The first group of Team India has departed from Mumbai for Australia ahead of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The team is set to compete in a five-match series, starting in Perth on November 22. A video shared by news agency ANI showed several Indian players exiting the team bus, including Akash Deep, Mohammed Siraj, Washington Sundar, and Yashasvi Jaiswal.

Jaiswal is expected to play a key role in the upcoming Test series. The left-handed batter is India’s top run-scorer in the current World Test Championship (WTC) cycle, with 1,407 runs from 14 Tests (26 innings) at an average of 56.28, including two double centuries. He ranks just behind former England captain Joe Root (1,750 runs) on the list.
Meanwhile, Siraj and Sundar will look to continue their impressive performances in Australia. Siraj took 13 wickets, including a five-wicket haul, in the 2020-21 series, where India won 2-1. Sundar, who played just one Test at the Gabba, took four wickets and scored 84 runs in a crucial victory that helped India win the series 2-1.
Akash Deep, however, will be making his debut in a Test series down under. Since his debut against England earlier this year, he has taken 10 wickets in five matches.
