Team India faced an early injury scare on Friday, November 15, as KL Rahul was struck on his right elbow during a match simulation against India A at the WACA in Perth. Rahul, who had opened the innings with Yashasvi Jaiswal in Rohit Sharma’s absence, walked off the field after the blow, despite initially attempting to continue, as reported by those covering the intra-squad clash.
Rahul, along with Dhruv Jurel, was one of the first members of the main squad to arrive in Australia. Both were named in the India A team for the second unofficial Test against Australia A at the MCG. Rahul, playing at the top of the order, had two poor performances, including a strange dismissal in the second innings against spinner Corey Rocchicciol.
With Rohit Sharma’s absence for the first Test seeming increasingly likely, Rahul is now a key contender to open the innings, with Abhimanyu Easwaran also a strong candidate to fill the gap at the top of the order.
The visitors experienced a scare during Thursday’s net session on November 14, when Sarfaraz Khan was struck on the elbow. Fortunately, the blow was not considered serious. However, the extent of Rahul’s injury remains unclear, and it is uncertain whether he will return to bat or be rested as a precaution.

India’s top order faltered early in the simulation, with Yashasvi Jaiswal making 15 runs before being dismissed. Virat Kohli, after playing a couple of confident cover drives, edged one to second slip off Mukesh Kumar’s bowling.
KL Rahul Has Scored 187 Runs In Nine Innings In Australia So Far
KL Rahul’s international career began in Australia, where he scored both a duck and a century on his debut tour. While the right-handed batter has impressed in challenging overseas conditions like England and South Africa, he has struggled in Australia. He has managed only 187 runs in nine innings Down Under.
During the 2018-19 tour, Rahul reached double figures just once in five innings. He was particularly troubled by Josh Hazlewood, who dismissed him four times during that series.
