Team India delivered a remarkable batting performance in the fourth T20I against South Africa at The Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg on Friday, November 15. After winning the toss and opting to bat, India posted a colossal 283/1, then bowled out the Proteas for 148 in 18.2 overs to seal the series 3-1.
Following Abhishek Sharma’s quick 36 off 18 balls, Sanju Samson (109* off 56) and Tilak Varma (120* off 47) shared an unbeaten second-wicket partnership of 210 runs. The trio of Abhishek (4), Samson (9), and Varma (10) combined to hit 23 sixes in India’s innings, setting a new record for the most sixes in a T20I innings against a full member side.
Previously, India held the record for hitting the most sixes in a T20I innings against a full member side, with 22 sixes against Bangladesh earlier this year. West Indies also hit 22 sixes against South Africa in 2023, while Afghanistan struck 22 maximums against Ireland in 2019.

With their outstanding innings, Varma and Samson became the first batting pair from full member countries to score centuries in the same T20I innings.
Additionally, Samson became the first player to score three T20I centuries in a calendar year, while Varma became the fifth batter to hit centuries in consecutive T20I innings, following Gustav Mckeon, Rilee Rossouw, Phil Salt, and Samson.
India asserted control over the T20I series against South Africa
Suryakumar Yadav’s Team India were dominant in the four-match T20I series against South Africa. They began with a 61-run win in Durban, and despite batting struggles in Gqeberha, they reduced South Africa to 66-6 before the hosts chased down 125 to win by three wickets.

Batting first in Centurion, the Men in Blue posted 219/6, with Varma (107* off 56) scoring his maiden T20I century. South Africa gave India a scare in their chase, thanks to Heinrich Klaasen (41 off 22) and Marco Jansen (54 off 17).
However, India managed to restrict the hosts to 208/7. In the final T20I in Johannesburg, India proved far too strong for South Africa. Varma was named Player of the Match for his century and Player of the Series for amassing 280 runs in four innings at a strike rate of 198.58.
With the ball, leg-spinner Varun Chakravarthy was the top wicket-taker, claiming 12 wickets at an impressive average of 11.50.
