Ayush Badoni, the captain of Delhi, scored his first double century in a game that defined his career against Jharkhand in the Ranji Trophy. With 16 fours and 10 sixes in his undefeated 205, he helped Delhi take a first-inning lead and collect three crucial points.

Delhi managed to stay in the running for a quarterfinal spot because of Badoni’s outstanding knock. They now have 14 points, good for third place in Group D. Delhi needs to defeat Railways and Saurashtra in their final two January games in order to guarantee a position in the quarterfinals.

In addition to improving Delhi’s prospects, Badoni’s double century was a major turning point in his career. He will surely gain confidence and momentum from his outstanding performance as he attempts to guide Delhi to victory in the remaining games.

Delhi’s skipper, Ayush Badoni, has struggled to convert skill into steady runs despite being praised for his ability from his junior cricket days. But it appears that working with Justin Langer, the coach of the Lucknow Super Giants, at WACA in 2023 has been beneficial. The child acknowledged the work the LSG coach had done on him and gave Langer credit.

“Justin Langer taught me a lot about aggression—how to control it and when to display it. He also helped refine my grip,” Badoni said.

“I’ve scored two hundreds at No. 4 before, so I wanted to bat there again, After the last IPL, I focused on developing my bowling. Sarandeep sir’s advice on thumb positioning has been invaluable,” he shared.

To reverse the tide in Delhi’s favor, Badoni made a 150-run partnership with Sumit Mathur (43) for the sixth wicket, followed by an undefeated 61-run partnership with Shivam Sharma (33 not out) for the eighth wicket. Delhi’s final two Ranji Trophy matches are against Railways and Saurashtra in January. Delhi can yet make it to the knockout stages, according to Badoni, who was named captain two days prior to this game.
