Omkar Salvi, who is currently the head coach of Mumbai’s domestic team, has been hired by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) as their bowling coach ahead of IPL 2025. The franchise confirmed the appointment on their official social media on Monday, November 18.
Earlier in July, RCB had named former wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik as their batting coach and mentor. The franchise announced Salvi’s appointment with the following post:
“🚨 Announcement: 🚨 Omkar Salvi, current Head Coach of Mumbai, has been appointed as RCB’s Bowling Coach. 🤝☄️ Omkar, who has won the Ranji Trophy, Irani Trophy and the IPL in the last 8 months, is excited to join us in time for #IPL2025, after completion of his Indian domestic season duties.”

Omkar Salvi is the brother of former pacer and current Punjab domestic coach, Avishkar Salvi. The 46-year-old led Mumbai to victories in the most recent Ranji and Irani Trophy editions.
He has previously served as the assistant bowling coach for Kolkata Knight Riders and as the bowling coach for Mumbai before stepping into the head coach role. The past two to three years have been highly successful for Omkar Salvi, as he led Mumbai to victory in both the Ranji Trophy in the 2023-24 season and the Irani Cup.
Omkar Salvi played just one List A match in his career. In his only game for Railways, he took one wicket and gave away 36 runs against Madhya Pradesh.
