#1 IPL winning coach
As mentioned previously, Omkar Salvi is already familiar with the IPL environment. The 46-year-old has previous experience in the league, having served as the assistant bowling coach for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
During the 2024 season, KKR won their third IPL title by defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad in the final. Salvi, as part of the coaching staff, was involved in that successful campaign, giving him firsthand experience of victory in the league.
#2 Profitable tenure with Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy
Mumbai is the most successful team in the history of the Ranji Trophy, India’s top domestic competition. Omkar Salvi served as the bowling coach for four seasons.
Recently, he took over as the head coach and guided Mumbai to the Ranji Trophy title. Under his leadership, Mumbai won the prestigious trophy for the first time in eight years, claiming the title in the 2023-2024 season.
#3 Won the Ranji Trophy, Irani Cup, and IPL within eight months

#4 Sibling of the current bowling coach of the Indian women’s team
For those who aren’t aware, Omkar Salvi is the brother of Avishkar Salvi, the current bowling coach of the Indian women’s team. Avishkar also served as the head coach of Punjab, leading them to victory in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
A former cricketer, Avishkar played as a pacer for India, featuring in four One Day Internationals. He was also part of the Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) squad during the 2009 IPL season.
#5 Omkar Salvi played domestic cricket for the Railways team
Omkar Salvi is a former cricketer whose playing career was brief and relatively uneventful, especially compared to his successful coaching journey.
He represented Railways and played just one List A match, which came in 2005 against Madhya Pradesh in Indore. In that match, Salvi bowled six overs, conceding 36 runs and taking one wicket. He also played two non-List A matches for Railways in 2009, facing Air India and Orissa CA XI.
