India wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul reached the 3,000-run milestone in Tests with a stunning cover drive off Australian captain Pat Cummins on Day 1 of the first Test in Perth on Friday, November 22. Rahul achieved this feat in his 92nd innings (54th Test).
The landmark shot followed a back-of-a-length delivery from Cummins that seamed back, striking the toe end of Rahul’s bat but falling short of the keeper. The next ball, a full and wide one, was elegantly driven through the offside for a boundary.

KL Rahul showed promise with the bat but was dismissed for 26 off 74 balls, caught behind by Alex Carey off Mitchell Starc. A successful Australian review led to his dismissal, though the decision appeared inconclusive, sparking a discussion between Rahul and the on-field umpire.
Rahul’s struggles in the red-ball format continued as he recently scored 4 and 10 for India A in the second unofficial Test against Australia A. Earlier, he was dropped from the playing XI during the home Test series against New Zealand following scores of 0 and 12 in the opening match of the three-Test series.
