Team India’s remarkable comeback on Day 1 of the first Test against Australia in Perth thrilled fans and drew the attention of former captain and head coach Rahul Dravid.

Currently serving as the head coach of the Rajasthan Royals and focused on preparations for the IPL 2025 mega auction, Dravid was seen in a video shared by the franchise on their X handle, inquiring about the score of the ongoing match.

“Difficult to not keep up with scores when it’s Day 1 of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy,” RR captioned the post.

Bumrah Excels in Perth

After electing to bat first, India managed to score only 150 runs in their innings, putting the team under pressure. However, Jasprit Bumrah turned the game around with a sensational performance with the new ball, changing the course of the match in just a few overs.

Jasprit Bumrah has delivered a standout performance in the match, taking four wickets on Day 1 and completing his five-wicket haul by dismissing Alex Carey with his first ball on Day 2.

Bumrah struck early, dismissing Australia’s first batter at 14 runs and claiming a second wicket at 19. The Australian batting lineup crumbled, with Bumrah taking four wickets in just 10 overs. By stumps, Australia was struggling at 67/7.

Bumrah has become the sixth Indian captain to take wickets in Australia, joining the likes of Lala Amarnath, Bishan Bedi, Kapil Dev, Sachin Tendulkar, and Anil Kumble. Among them, Bedi, Kapil, and Kumble are the only ones to have taken five wickets in an innings as captain.

Now, Bumrah is just one wicket away from joining this elite list. If he achieves the milestone, he will also become the first Indian fast-bowling captain to take a five-wicket haul in an innings in Australia, surpassing even Kapil Dev, who is categorized as an all-rounder.
