India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal‘s commanding innings in the second innings of the first Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test in Perth ended in the 94th over. The young batter appeared on course for a double century but had to settle for 161 runs off 297 balls.
Yashasvi Jaiswal made a brisk start on Day 3 (Sunday, November 24), swiftly reaching his century in the opening moments of the session. He maintained his commanding presence at the crease, continuing to pile on runs and soon crossing the 150-run mark with ease, showcasing his ability to capitalize on a strong start.
Despite the early setback in the second session when Devdutt Padikkal was dismissed off the very first ball, Jaiswal stayed focused and composed. Partnering with Virat Kohli, he kept India’s innings on track before his brilliant knock eventually came to an end.
The opener attempted to cut Mitchell Marsh’s back-of-a-length delivery, bowled wide outside off stump, towards the point region. Although he timed it well, the ball went straight to Steve Smith at backward point. Jaiswal was left in disbelief as his brilliant innings came to an end, despite still being in excellent form at the crease.

Team India look to build on Jaiswal’s dominant innings
The visitors had reached 313-3 after Jaiswal’s wicket, holding a commanding lead of 359 runs. With the pitch remaining manageable and the new ball threat neutralized, the remaining batters face the challenge of extending the lead to put the game out of Australia’s reach.
At the time of writing, India were 321-4 after 96 overs, with Rishabh Pant falling cheaply for 1, stumped by Alex Carey off Nathan Lyon’s bowling.
