Earlier in the match, Kohli was seen on Day 2, walking onto the field in full batting gear to cheer on Jaiswal and KL Rahul. The two openers had built a solid 172-run partnership, much to the joy of Indian fans. Kohli’s support highlighted his encouragement for his teammates during one of the most exciting days of Indian Test cricket in Australia.
On Day 3 of the Perth Test, Jaiswal became the fifth Indian opener to score 150+ in a Test innings in Australia, joining legends like Shastri, Sehwag, Gavaskar, and Laxman. Sehwag and Gavaskar have achieved this feat twice.
Jaiswal became the second player to score 150+ in each of his first four Test centuries
Jaiswal also became the second player after South Africa’s Graeme Smith to convert each of his first four Test centuries into scores of 150 or more. At 22 years and 330 days, he is the fourth-youngest Indian centurion in Australia, with Sachin Tendulkar holding the record as the youngest, having scored a century at 18 years and 253 days in 1992.
After a duck in the first innings, Jaiswal made a stunning comeback in the second, playing with patience and control. He scored his maiden Test century in Australia, joining cricket legends like Kohli, Tendulkar, Amarnath, and Gavaskar, who also scored centuries in Perth.
While KL Rahul contributed a solid 77, Jaiswal stole the spotlight, bringing up his fourth Test century with a stunning upper-cut six off Josh Hazlewood. His celebration—a salute to the crowd, a glance to the heavens, and flying kisses—perfectly captured the emotion of the moment.
