Top 5 Biggest Salary Hikes In IPL Auction

The IPL Auction 2025 wrapped up in Saudi Arabia on Monday, November 25. The 10 franchises successfully assembled their squads with their desired players, spending crores to secure the top cricketing talents globally.

As it was a mega auction, several prominent names in world cricket were available, and teams didn’t hesitate to make hefty bids. Three players received over ₹20 crore during the IPL Auction 2025. Here are the 5 major price hikes in IPL 2025:

#1 Jitesh Sharma – ₹20 lakh to ₹11 crore

Jitesh Sharma was an uncapped player when Punjab Kings acquired him for his base price of ₹20 lakh at the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. PBKS retained him for the same amount in 2023 and 2024. During these years, Sharma not only played for India but also captained the Punjab Kings.

After significant growth as a player, Jitesh received a massive ₹11 crore bid from Royal Challengers Bangalore at the IPL Auction 2025, marking a remarkable ₹10.8 crore increase in his salary.

#2 Rishabh Pant – ₹16 crore to ₹27 crore

Rishabh Pant was the top retention for Delhi Capitals ahead of the IPL 2022 Mega Auction, with the team keeping him for ₹16 crore. He remained with DC for the next two seasons at the same salary.

Pant parted ways with DC before the IPL Auction 2025. Although DC attempted to use the RTM card to retain him, Lucknow Super Giants outbid them, securing Pant for ₹27 crore. As a result, his salary increased by ₹11 crore.

#3 Yuzvendra Chahal – ₹6.5 crore to ₹18 crore

India’s leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal also saw a salary increase of more than ₹10 crore at the IPL Auction 2025. He will represent Punjab Kings this season, who acquired him for ₹18 crore. From 2022 to 2024, Rajasthan Royals paid Chahal ₹6.5 crore per season. As a result, Chahal’s salary hike amounts to ₹11.5 crore.

#4 Shreyas Iyer – ₹12.25 crore to ₹26.75 crore

Kolkata Knight Riders aimed to retain their IPL-winning captain Shreyas Iyer before the mega auction, but Iyer chose to enter the auction instead. This turned out to be a brilliant move, as multiple IPL franchises placed high bids for him.

Ultimately, Punjab Kings secured Iyer for ₹26.75 crore, more than double the ₹12.25 crore KKR paid him from 2022 to 2024. Iyer’s salary increase amounted to ₹14.5 crore.

#5 Venkatesh Iyer – ₹8 crore to ₹23.75 crore

Venkatesh Iyer was the biggest beneficiary of the IPL Auction 2025. Kolkata Knight Riders had retained him for ₹8 crore per season during the 2022-2024 cycle. This time, KKR allowed him to enter the auction and pursued him vigorously, ultimately securing him for ₹23.75 crore.

Although he remains with the same team, his salary has risen by an impressive ₹15.75 crore.
