Indian cricketer KL Rahul is thrilled to join Delhi Capitals (DC) for IPL 2025, set to begin on March 14. The 32-year-old, released by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) ahead of the mega auction, was signed by DC for ₹14 crore.
The Karnataka batter brings immense value to the team with his ability to stabilize the batting order, keep wickets, and even captain the side. Rahul shared his excitement with fans through Delhi Capitals’ Instagram, expressing his enthusiasm for the new journey. He stated:
“Hey, guys. I’m super happy to be joining the Delhi Capitals. A new journey begins for me with the Delhi Capitals and I’m super excited. The squad looks really good. Can’t wait for the season to begin and come to Delhi and play at the Kotla and entertain all of you. See you guys there.”

The experienced batter boasts an outstanding IPL record with 4,683 runs in 132 matches at an average of 45.47, including 37 half-centuries and four centuries. His standout season was in 2020, where he amassed 670 runs in 14 games for Punjab Kings, earning the Orange Cap.

Delhi Capitals co-owner Parth Jindal expressed his excitement over signing KL Rahul, emphasizing the batter’s consistent match-winning performances in the IPL and the tremendous value he brings to the team. During the auction, he told the press (as quoted by Free Press Journal):
“We were looking for stability in the top order, someone with experience who can build the innings. And, I think KL Rahul, given his record in the IPL, he’s someone who’s consistently given more than 400 runs every season. I think with the Kotla wicket, it is going to suit his game. We’re very excited to have him.”
