Australian batter Glenn Maxwell expressed his gratitude to his former team, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), after the franchise shared a farewell video for him. Maxwell responded by thanking RCB for the past four years.
RCB signed Maxwell in 2021 for ₹14.25 crore after a disappointing IPL season with Punjab Kings (then Kings XI Punjab), where he managed just 108 runs in 13 matches without hitting a single six.
During his four seasons with RCB, Maxwell scored 1226 runs in 52 matches, with a highest score of 78. Although retained for ₹11 crore in 2022, he was released ahead of the IPL 2025 Mega Auction.
Maxwell rejoined Punjab Kings for the third time in his IPL career after being signed for ₹4.20 crore. RCB shared a video on their official X account, showcasing Maxwell’s best moments with the team, accompanied by the caption:
“Maxi, thank you for being the heart of our team, from your game-changing heroics to your team-first attitude. 🌟 Your constant smile has been a gift, and every moment you wore the RCB colors is unforgettable. ❤ Wishing you all the best in your future endeavors, Maximus. You’ll always be a beautiful part of our story! 🫶“
Maxwell further replied:
“Thanks for the last 4 years @RCBTweets ❤️“

Glenn Maxwell was signed by Punjab Kings in the 2025 IPL Mega Auction
After being released by RCB, Maxwell attracted bids from Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Punjab Kings (PBKS), and Chennai Super Kings (CSK). SRH and PBKS initially battled for him, but SRH withdrew, followed by CSK, who stopped short of PBKS’ ₹4.20 crore bid.
Punjab Kings secured Maxwell after RCB chose not to exercise their Right to Match card. This marks Maxwell’s third stint with the franchise, having previously played for them from 2014 to 2017 and again in 2020.
