Team India decided to have a break in Canberra on Thursday and was a justified decision in the team’s calendar. A very important day-and-night match against Prime Ministers XI is set for Saturday and Sunday at Manuka Oval, so the team thought it wise to take some rest and relax.
This break will of course benefit the players in that, with the coming challenge, it will help them prepare themselves. Rohit Sharma’s men have been sweating it out, and this restday will help them to get rejuvenated and make a comeback. The Indian team needs to be more determined.
The Indian team will be back on the practice ground on Friday as they try to better prepare for the game to be played against the Prime Ministers XI. This day-and-night match will afford the team the best chance to familiarize themselves with the conditions and to play with the pink ball.
How did Team India perform in the first Australia Test?
In the first Test of the series, Team India defeated the Australians by an overwhelming 295 runs on Monday in Perth, Australia. Although the 2008 triumph took place at the former Test site, WACA, this is India’s second-largest victory ever in Australia and Perth.
After being bowled out for just 150 on the first day, Team India undoubtedly had similar concerns. However, the bowlers gave the team a boost with a performance that exceeded expectations, led by Jasprit Bumrah, who took five wickets. KL Rahul and centurion Yashasvi Jaiswal created a record partnership of 201 runs after India managed to secure a meager 46-run lead.
Later, as India gave Australia a massive target of 534, Virat Kohli also struck a century, his first in 16 months. India took an early 1-0 lead in the five-test series when the bowlers once again rose to the occasion and folded Australia for a meager 238.
