The pink-ball warm-up match between India and PM’s XI at the Manuka Oval, Canberra, on December 1 saw Sarfaraz Khan adorning the wicketkeeping gloves for India. Sarfaraz is indeed a wicketkeeper but not a regular one and even in this series he was probably provided a chance to prove his ability to keep wickets.

When Harshit Rana got some extra bounce for that ball, Sarfaraz Khan could not grab it and that went straight to the batsman. The turn was greeted with some reaction in the form of an action from Indian captain Rohit Sharma, who was positioned at the first slip. This must have made Sharma, who was not happy with the scorecard, unhappy, and Sarfaraz must have regretted not having the chance to exhibit his talent.

A funny moment on the cricket field was caught on camera during India’s pink-ball practice match against PM’s XI in Canberra at Manuka Oval. There was a lateral swing in the 23rd over of the innings when Harshit Rana bowled a short ball to Oliver Davies, and although the batsman missed the ball with his bat, the ball continued to whiz past and Sarfaraz Khan, who was doing the keeping, had to struggle to avoid the ball. When Sarfaraz bent down to pick the ball, Rohit, the Indian captain, jokingly punched him on the back.

This has also gained many views on social media, where fans had a great laugh at a funny moment between Rohit and Sarfaraz. At the same time, Sarfaraz Khan has not found his place in the Indian team for quite a long time.

He was part of the Perth Stadium for the first Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 and was replaced by Dhruv Jurel in the side. Jurel also had amassed two half-centuries while playing in the India A match, which makes him more qualified for the slot.

There appears no way that Sarfaraz Khan will regain his place in the side for the day/night pink ball test at Adelaide beginning December 6. Still, Sarfaraz could not get a chance in the Indian team and one cannot be sure whether he will get another chance to show his talents in the future.
