[WATCH]- Pat Cummins And Rohit Sharma Smile At Ravi Shastri’s Excitement During The 2nd BGT 2024-25 Test Toss

Australia captain Pat Cummins and India skipper Rohit Sharma couldn’t help but smile at Ravi Shastri’s enthusiasm during the toss before the second Test in Adelaide on Friday, December 6. True to his style, Shastri built up the moment by highlighting the rich history of Adelaide and its legendary players before proceeding with the formalities.

Shastri stated at the toss (via Star Sports):

“Magnificent Adelaide Oval. Easily one of the prettiest grounds in the world. We in the city of Churchills, home to Bradman, the Chappell’s and of course the iconic giant scoreboard right out of the heritage this since 1911.”

Ravi Shastri is currently touring Australia as a commentator after his successful tenure as India’s head coach during two triumphant tours Down Under. Under his leadership, the Men in Blue secured 2-1 victories in both the 2018-19 and 2020-21 series. This time, Gautam Gambhir is taking on the role of head coach.

Rohit Sharma will be eager to join Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane as Indian captains who have led the team to a Test series win in Australia.

Rohit Sharma makes three changes for the 2nd Test vs Australia; Jaiswal departs for a duck

Under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy, India made three changes for the second Test in Australia. Rohit replaced Dhruv Jurel, while fit-again Shubman Gill took the place of Devdutt Padikkal. Ravichandran Ashwin also replaced Washington Sundar as the main spinner.

Rohit will bat at No.6, with KL Rahul opening the innings. At the toss, he confirmed this (via ESPNcricinfo):

“I’m batting in the middle order, which is different but I’m ready for the challenge.”

“It looks a good pitch. It obviously looks a little dry at the moment but there’s enough grass covering as well. I guess it will have some carry for the fast bowlers but as the game goes on it will get better to bat and there will be something in it for everyone,” he added.

The visitors had a rough start as Mitchell Starc bowled out Yashasvi Jaiswal for a golden duck in the first over. At the time of writing, India were 10/1, with Rahul and Gill at the crease.
