Mohammed Siraj, Indian pacer, turned out to be indeed pivotal at the Adelaide Oval just after an altercation with the Australian batsman Travis Head. The event happened against Siraj’s bouncer at Labuschagne, who ducked and awaited for the square-leg umpire’s call.
During the Test match that followed the act, the Australian crowd jeered Siraj throughout. But, Siraj became the recipient of recognition from an unusual source, that of Australian fast bowler Josh Hazlewood, who happens to be in the same franchise, Royal Challengers Bangalore, in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Hazelwood praised him for the attitude of Siraj while bowling, arguing that of a very good bowler under pressure on the batsman. His comments come against the backdrop of an in-field verbal tussle between Head and Siraj during the second day of the Adelaide Test match.
“I really enjoyed my time at RCB with him”- Josh Hazlewood on Mohammed Siraj
Josh Hazlewood, a speedster for Australia, has described Mohammed Siraj as having “good character” as he and Travis Head go ready to face charges from the International Cricket Council (ICC) for their verbal altercation in Adelaide.
“I really enjoyed my time at RCB with him. He’s probably the leader of the attack there, to a degree. He’s another one who’s a bit like Virat (Kohli), very passionate, goes with the flow of the game, gets the crowd up,” Hazlewood was quoted as saying by Yahoo Sports.
“(He has) bowled serious spells in the IPL in the last few years. He’s just a good character and it’s good to see sometimes,” he added.
Hazlewood took five wickets in the opening innings of his most recent bowling match against India at The Gabba in Brisbane. But he only took one wicket in the second innings, and India won the Test.
