Rinku Singh Embraces His Pushpa Vibe With UP Teammates After SMAT 2024

Team India and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) cricketer Rinku Singh, along with his Uttar Pradesh (UP) teammates, recreated a famous hook step from the movie Pushpa. Sharing the moment on his official Instagram story, Singh posted a clip of them performing the step together in the gym.

Rinku Singh represented the Uttar Pradesh team in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024. UP’s campaign ended with a 19-run loss to Delhi in the quarter-finals.

The left-hander delivered a solid performance, emerging as UP’s highest run-scorer with 277 runs in eight innings at an impressive average of 69.25 and a strike rate of 152.19, including a half-century. His highest score in the tournament was 70.

Despite Rinku’s efforts, UP couldn’t progress beyond the quarter-finals, finishing second in Group C with five wins and two losses. In the quarter-final against Delhi, UP fell short of a 194-run target, getting bowled out for 174. Rinku scored just 10 runs off 7 balls, unable to guide his team to victory.

Rinku Singh was one of KKR’s key retained players

Before the IPL 2025 auction, Kolkata Knight Riders retained Rinku Singh for ₹13 crores. Having debuted for KKR in 2018, he has remained with the franchise ever since.

The left-handed batter has featured in 46 matches, amassing 893 runs in 40 innings at an average of 30.79 and a strike rate of 143.33. His IPL career includes four half-centuries, with a personal best of 67 not out.

Rinku Singh was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for ₹55 lakh in the IPL 2024 auction

In the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) season, Rinku Singh’s performance was below expectations. Over 11 innings, he accumulated 168 runs, averaging 18.67 with a strike rate of 148.67. This was a decline from his previous season, where he scored 474 runs at an average of 59.25 and a strike rate of 149.53.

His limited opportunities in the lower-middle order, due to the team’s strong top-order batting lineup, contributed to his reduced impact.  Despite these challenges, Rinku’s earlier performances, including his remarkable five consecutive sixes against Gujarat Titans in 2023, have solidified his reputation as a capable finisher.
