Australia’s ex-cricketer Simon Katich has expressed his views regarding the recent media issues involving star Indian cricketers Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja. Katich referred to the occurrences as ‘mind games, saying that the media is only doing their work. He stated he was not sure about what exactly the Indian team had on their mind over the issue. The comments have been made at a time when India and Australia are locked at 1-1 in the ongoing Test series.

They started after Virat Kohli accosted an Australian journalist for video recording his family for a video without their consent. Subsequently, the Australian media accused Ravindra Jadeja of not responding in English to answers after a session of net practice at MCG.

Katich’s comments suggest that the media wants to create some sort of havoc for the Indian team prior to the decisive Boxing Day Test at the MCG. This year’s Border-Gavaskar trophy promises to be an eventful one, as both nations would love to set the pace.

The recent altercations between Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja with journalists have been described as mind games by former Australian cricketer Simon Katich. According to Katich, India is attempting to get an advantage before the MCG Test.

“Obviously, there’s been a few things unfolding in the last week or so, that haven’t gone down well at that camp. It’s probably just the mind games being played, given the enormity of this series,” Katich said on Channel 7.

“The media are here to promote the game and I don’t know what the Indians are thinking at the moment. That’s their problem,” he added.

The fourth and penultimate Test between India and Australia begins on Wednesday, December 26 at the famous MCG in Melbourne.
