Team India pacer Jasprit Bumrah is reportedly set to be rested for most of the white-ball series against England, which includes five T20Is and three ODIs starting January 22. Bumrah had to leave the field after bowling just one over post-lunch in the final Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

He quickly changed into training gear and was taken to the hospital with some support staff for scans. Bumrah returned to the dressing room before the day’s play ended, with fellow pacer Prasidh Krishna revealing that he had back spasms.

According to a report by NDTV Sport, Bumrah could miss a significant portion of the series against England later this month as part of workload management after bowling over 150 overs in five Tests.

The exact severity of Bumrah’s injury is yet to be assessed. If it turns out to be a Grade 1 injury, the pacer may need two to three weeks to regain match fitness. However, a Grade 2 or 3 injury could extend his recovery period to six weeks or even three months, potentially ruling him out of both the Champions Trophy and the IPL.

“Frustrating not to be there”- Bumrah on winning BGT 24-25 Player of the Series

Jasprit Bumrah was named Player of the Series for the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy after taking 31 wickets in five Tests. Speaking at the post-match presentation, he said:

“Little frustrating to not be out there but sometimes you have to respect your body and listen to it. Missed out on the spiciest day of the series, but it is what it is. The chat was about believing.”

”The other bowlers stepped up in the last innings as well. So that was the chat this morning. Lots of ifs and buts. The whole series was well fought and it was not a one-sided contest.”

Bumrah captained India in two Tests during the tour and was named Player of the Match in India’s sole victory in Perth, taking eight wickets across both innings.
