BCCI Enforces Strict Guidelines For Team India Players: Dos And Don’ts Revealed

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has imposed a new policy for national team players outlining the dos and don’ts while representing the country. Key measures include mandatory participation in domestic cricket, limitations on family and personal staff presence during tours, and a ban on individual endorsements during series.

BCCI’s 10-Point Policy for Ensuring ‘Discipline and Unity’

Mandatory Domestic Participation

“According to BCCI guidelines, players must participate in domestic matches to remain eligible for selection in the national team and to qualify for central contracts.”

Travel Policy

“All players are required to travel with the team to and from matches and practice sessions. Separate travel with families is discouraged to ensure discipline and maintain team unity.”

Baggage Limitations

“Players must follow the baggage limits provided to the team. Any additional baggage fees will be the responsibility of the individual player.”

Restriction on Personal Staff

“Personal staff, such as managers, chefs, assistants, and security, will be restricted during tours or series unless specifically authorized by the BCCI.”

Equipment Logistics

“Players are required to coordinate with the team management for sending equipment and personal items to the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. Any extra costs resulting from separate arrangements will be the player’s responsibility.”

Practice Attendance

“All players must attend the full duration of scheduled practice sessions and travel together to and from the venue.”

No Personal Shoots During Tours

“Players are prohibited from participating in personal shoots or endorsements during an active series or tour.”

Family Travel

“Players who are away from India for more than 45 days during overseas tours may have their partners and children (under 18) join them for one visit per series (by format), lasting up to two weeks.”

Official Engagements

“Players must be available for BCCI’s official shoots, promotional events, and functions.”

Match Completion Policy

“Players must remain with the team until the scheduled conclusion of the match series or tour, even if the matches finish earlier than expected.”

Compliance

“Failure to comply may result in disciplinary action as determined by the BCCI. Furthermore, the BCCI reserves the right to impose penalties on a player, which could include (i) suspension from participating in all BCCI-organized tournaments, including the Indian Premier League, and (ii) deductions from the player’s retainer or match fees under the BCCI Player contract.”
