Rishabh Pant Struggles on Return to Domestic Cricket

Rishabh Pant, along with several other Indian internationals, is participating in the ongoing sixth round of the Ranji Trophy 2024-25. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has made it mandatory for even international players to feature in domestic matches.

Pant had a modest showing in the Border Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25, scoring 255 runs from nine innings at an average of 28.33. Apart from a quickfire 61, he failed to produce any significant innings.

On the opening day of Delhi’s Ranji Trophy clash against Saurashtra, Delhi batted first but was dismissed for just 188 runs in 49.4 overs. Pant, batting at No. 5, had a brief stay at the crease, facing only 10 balls for a single run before being dismissed by Dharmendrasinh Jadeja.

His expected contribution didn’t materialize, leaving Delhi at 92/4 by the 27th over. Pant, who has played 68 first-class matches, has scored 4,868 runs at an average of 46.36, including 11 centuries. He will be hoping for a better performance in Delhi’s second innings.
